I met Joe at Uncle Charlie's Summer Camp (UCSC) in January 1982. Like minds are attracted. Soon after meeting we were rock climbing in the UCSC quarry. On one occassion I invited Joe to do an all-night vigil at the College 5 girls dorm so that we could perhaps thwart or "catch" the culprits reeking havoc in the girls dorm. Our all-night vigil was for naught. These were also the days of "Joey Grade Point and the Redirects". Let me tell you, this band was very, very, good - it was "the campus band"! I graduated from UCSC in June 1983, fought fires with the USFS (my last year) and then returned to Monterey. I never lost touch with Joe. I attended his gratuation ceremony at UCB at Zellerbach Auditorium. This is where I met Martha. Oh Martha! What the hell! I visited Joe when he worked at Chez Panise. He, Monte Brill and I stayed over night at the Chez Panise farm and we all slept in the garden! One of life's simple pleasures and never to be forgotten. Joe never let the grass grow under-foot. There was always something fun and interesting to do when Joe was involved. The last time Joe and the Northern California Boyz got together was in 2008. Monte, Bruce Jackson and I met Joe in the SF Marina District. Our first day together we sailed to Angel Island and hiked the circumference of the island. We went to the Filmore and saw Government Mule. It was short and sweet. I miss you Joe! YOU WILL ALWAYS BE ON MY MIND! Sue-eeeee! Bless you Brother.
